Berry BBQ Sauce

Makes 4 cups

Add another B to your BBQ with berries!

INGREDIENTS

2 cups mixed berries, roughly chopped
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 onion
2 cloves of garlic
1 15-oz can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons tomato paste
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup honey
1 chipotle pepper in adobo sauce, chopped
¼ cup apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons smoked paprika
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder

PREPARATION

  1. Heat oil in a wide skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion for about 5 minutes until soft. Add garlic and cook until fragrant. Add tomato paste, paprika, and chili powder and cook for an additional minute.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and cook for about 15 minutes or until berries are broken down and sauce has thickened.
  3. Blend sauce in a blender until smooth.
