Food lover and avid volunteer Angie Lipschuetz has been volunteering with Foodwise for the last two years, helping out at fundraising events like Summer Bash, Sunday Supper, and Love Bites, as well as education activities at Mission Community Market. “I knew about the organization when I moved to SF but decided to get involved after hearing great things from people I met while volunteering at other events in the city,” she says. “Since I love food, I was excited to support an organization focused on strengthening communities through food.”
Rebecca Crawbuck, Foodwise’s Partnerships & Events Manager, shares, “Angie is a consistent supporter for our fundraising events and a crucial part of our team! I appreciate her ability to identify a problem and to step in with a solution, always leading with positive energy. Angie is generous with her skills and talents, but always game to jump in and help where it’s needed. I always look forward to working with Angie at our events and am so grateful for her dedication to Foodwise.” Meet Angie.
Foodwise: Where does your food interest come from?
Angie: I was a really picky eater growing up! But during college, I became more and more interested in trying new foods and cooking. Now, food is a huge part of how I experience the world. When I travel, the first thing I do when planning my trip is research local food and restaurants to make a list of what and where I want to eat.
Foodwise: What do you do when you aren’t volunteering for Foodwise?
Angie: When I’m not volunteering at Foodwise, you can usually find me volunteering for other causes around the city. I’m always on the lookout for new local restaurants add to and check off my list whenever I can. I also love live music and have a goal to see a concert at every venue in the Bay Area.
Foodwise: Why did you choose to volunteer with us at this time?
Angie: Volunteering with Foodwise has been some of the most enjoyable volunteer experiences I’ve ever had. The staff are welcoming and supportive, and the volunteers and guests are always engaging and enthusiastic—it makes the time fly by. And of course I love to try all the delicious food at the farmers markets and events!
Foodwise: What has been most rewarding about your experience with Foodwise?
Angie: The most rewarding thing about volunteering with Foodwise is all the amazing people I get to interact with. It’s so uplifting to be part of a community of people who genuinely care about each other and are dedicated to making a positive impact.
Foodwise: What does Foodwise mean to you?
Angie: Foodwise means having a place to go and people to connect with where I can be a small part of helping others learn about food to improve their families and communities while also learning myself.
Foodwise: Any favorite farmers market foods or home meal prep tips you want to share?
Angie: My favorite farmers market food is any pastry by Norte54 at the Mission Mercado—I love that it’s on Thursday evenings! As a night owl, I definitely appreciate a market that doesn’t require setting an alarm.
