Stepping Up to the Plate in 2017

December 30, 2016

CUESA wishes you a bountiful New Year filled with good friends, good health, and good food. As we look back on 2016 and the progress we’ve achieved together, we are immensely grateful for you, our community of friends, allies, and supporters! You inspire our hope for a healthy future.

Looking forward to 2017, CUESA reaffirms our commitment to protecting the values you hold dear. We will work alongside you to create the world we all wish for, a world where:

Every person has access to healthy, affordable food and the basic know-how to prepare nourishing meals.
Every child gets a healthy start with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.
All farmers and farm workers make a living doing the hard work of growing food.
New and beginning farmers have access to education, resources, land, and markets, so that they can secure the role of sustainable agriculture for the next generation.
Agriculture is restorative, bringing life to the soil, supporting biodiversity, and leaving the air and water clean.
Emerging food entrepreneurs of all cultures and backgrounds have opportunities to become successful.
All food workers earn a living wage while being treated with dignity and with regard for their safety.
Animals in the food system are raised with respect and care.

Farmers markets are inclusive public spaces where people gather to find common ground, share food traditions, and support sustainable food culture.
Food spreads love and brings people together.

In 2017, we will sustain this vision and continue to break new ground. All change starts locally, and we all have immense power to be agents for good in our communities, especially when we work together

As always, please support our farmers and producers year-round, even in the cold and rainy winter months. You can also support CUESA’s work with farmers, youth, and educators by donating to our year-end fundraising campaign or getting involved (we’ll be hosting a volunteer orientation on January 18).

There is much work ahead, but we couldn’t ask for better partners in this effort. Thank you, and we look forward to growing with you in 2017.

In gratitude,
Your friends at CUESA
