Meet Our Team: Hui Jiang
September 11, 2026

Meet one of the newest members of our team, Hui Jiang, who joined us in January 2026 as our Assistant Market Manager at Alemany Farmers Market and Mission Community Market.
Tell us a bit about you, your background, and what brought you to Foodwise?
I hold a master’s degree in Finance and Business Administration and spent 15 years working with KPMG in Beijing before moving to San Francisco in January 2025. Before joining Foodwise in January 2026, I worked with another local farmers market. It was there that I discovered how fulfilling it is to connect with and assist our Chinese-speaking shoppers, which ultimately inspired me to join the Foodwise team at a pivotal time when we were about to take over the management of Alemany.
What does your work at Foodwise look like in action?
As the Assistant Market Manager for two very unique Foodwise markets: the seasonal Mission Community Market and the year-round Alemany Farmers Market. My role includes coordinating office supplies for the market, managing the info booth to keep all transactions running smoothly, and ensuring our eligible shoppers receive food benefits, like EBT and Market Match. Additionally, I also help facilitate the loading and unloading process for our vendors and help guide shoppers to their favorite stalls.
What inspires or motivates you about your work?
A large number of shoppers at our farmers markets are non-English speaking Chinese immigrants. It is incredibly fulfilling to use my language skills to support them and bridge that gap. On a personal note, I have also become a regular farmers market shopper myself, and I love buying fresh produce directly from the farmers who grow it.
What’s something that you wish people understood better about Foodwise’s work or your work at Foodwise?
Because our Market Match funds are capped, due to funding constraints, at the Alemany Farmers Market, shoppers who arrive later in the day sometimes miss out on getting their benefits matched. I want to encourage our community members to come a bit earlier in the morning so they can fully maximize their benefits and secure the freshest produce.
What do you do to recharge outside of work?
To recharge, I love fishing at the piers in the San Francisco Bay, which is a wonderful change of pace from my corporate years in Beijing. I also find cooking very therapeutic. Taking the fresh ingredients I buy directly from our farmers and turning them into a nourishing, home-cooked meal helps me unwind and stay grounded.
Do you have any favorite farmers market tips you can share?
Arriving early ensures you get the best selection of fresh produce and, if you are a CalFresh shopper, guarantees you don’t miss out on our benefit matches like Market Match before they hit the daily cap.
What does “food wisdom” mean to you?
To me, “food wisdom” means understanding the journey of our food and respecting the people who grow it. Coming from a finance background, I used to look at the world through numbers and efficiency. Now, I see the true value of food through the hard work of our farmers and the health it brings to our diverse neighborhoods. It is about making conscious, healthy choices that support both our physical health and our local community.
Anything else you want to share?
I am incredibly grateful to the Foodwise community for welcoming me so warmly since January, especially as part of the Alemany Farmers Market team after reading the article “How Alemany Farmers Market Became ‘The People’s Market.'” If you see me at the Alemany or Mission Community Market, please come say hello—and if you prefer to speak Chinese, I am always happy to connect and chat in Mandarin!
