Ferry Plaza Farmers Market Delivered Will End on August 13
August 4, 2022
After 14 months, Foodwise and The FruitGuys have made the difficult decision to discontinue the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market Delivered online market and home delivery program.
The last day to place your order will be August 11, 2022, with orders being delivered on Saturday, August 13.
Foodwise and The FruitGuys teamed up to start this program in June 2021 as an evolution of the CUESA Farmers Market Box, launched by Foodwise (formerly CUESA) during the pandemic. Our goals have been to support small local farms and food makers in a time of financial hardship, and provide safe access to fresh, locally grown food, delivered directly from the farmers market to your doors, at a time of social distancing.
Over the course of the program, we’re proud to have directed funds to small farms and food businesses, and delivered farm-fresh produce and market goods across the Bay Area. However, the program unfortunately has not shown the growth needed to cover Foodwise’s and The FruitGuys’ staffing costs and be financially sustainable in the long term.
Direct human connections are at the heart of Foodwise’s mission to grow thriving communities through the power and joy of local food. As the world reopens, Foodwise needs to reinvest our resources in what we do best: supporting local farms and community food access in person through our farmers markets and high-quality education programs for eaters of all ages.
From The FruitGuys
Supporting small farms and feeding the hungry is the cornerstone of The FruitGuys mission. For the last 24 years, we’ve been advocates for food that works as a path to health and connection of people. We are excited to continue that work as businesses and schools reopen and are looking forward to partnering with you in future.
We hope you’ll continue to support local farmers at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market on Saturdays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, and at the Mission Community Market on Thursdays. Plus, many farms and food makers from Foodwise farmers markets also have their own online storefronts, including fresh produce boxes, CSA (community-supported agriculture) subscriptions, shelf-stable pantry items for mail order, and more! See what’s available here. Thank you for supporting our local farms and food community, even at times when you’re not able to shop the farmers market in person!
We remain firmly committed to supporting small family farms and food makers, expanding food access, and building a resilient and connected local food shed, whatever the future holds. Thank you again for your support and partnership, and we look forward to seeing you at the market!
