Maria Gonzalez, Green Thumb Farms

Saturday, June 29, 2024, 11:00 am - 11:45 am

Stop by the Foodwise Classroom for a cooking demo featuring the seasonal bounty of the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market.

Maria, born and raised in the Central Coast, developed a passion for the kitchen at a young age, cherishing the moments spent with her family in that warm and welcoming space. After graduating from Le Cordon Bleu in 2012 and adopting a Plant Based Lifestyle in 2015, Maria embarked on her entrepreneurial journey with the opening of Flower of Love in 2017, followed by Cali Dawg in 2019, which gained recognition for its award-winning vegan hot dog. While her business ventures are currently on hold due to motherhood, Maria recently joined Green Thumb Farms in 2021, collaborating with her partner Rudy to create a formidable team. Together, their vision includes opening a small shop where Maria can continue to showcase her culinary creations, while also imparting food justice classes to youth and promoting healthy eating habits through vegetable-based dishes. Their ultimate goal is to secure land for long-term sustainability and community engagement. Find Green Thumb Farms at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market on Saturdays and Tuesdays.

All demos take place in the Foodwise Classroom (under the tents in front of the Ferry Building) and are free to the public, with recipes and samples for all.
