Sofía Jiménez, Tutuli Mexican Bakery
Saturday, October 31, 2026, 11:00 am - 11:45 am

Stop by the Foodwise Classroom for a cooking demo featuring the seasonal bounty of the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market.
During the height of the pandemic, Sofía Jiménez began offering free meals to her community, an effort that was just as rewarding as it was costly. She hoped to start her own nonprofit, hire a crew, and distribute more meals, which led her to make her first batch of guava-filled coyotas (a style of pastry from Sonora, Mexico) as a fundraiser. Using her grandmother’s recipes, she sold coyotas to her immediate family and friends, and then to her larger community. Sofía then worked with the nonprofit Mandela Partners to launch Tutuli Mexican Bakery and gain access to more sales opportunities in local farmers markets, including the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market. You can find Tutuli at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market on Saturdays.
All demos take place in the Foodwise Classroom (green tent in front of the Ferry Building) and are free to the public, with recipes and samples for all.
