Eli Curtis, Bisou Chocolate

Saturday, February 10, 2024, 11:00 am - 11:45 am

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, stop by the Foodwise Classroom for a chocolate talk and tasting at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market. Plus, take part in Lunar New Year, Black History Month, and Valentine’s Day family crafts from 9 am to 2 pm.

Eli Curtis, co-founder of Bisou Chocolate with Tracey Britton, has 17 years of experience transforming cocoa beans into chocolate. His approach to chocolate making has always started with the bean: how to unlock the best flavors of fine aroma cacao through meticulous roasting and conching. You can find Bisou Chocolate at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market on Saturdays.

What goes into farming and producing specialty cacao, the keystone of craft chocolate? And what is the difference between cacao and cocoa anyways? Eli will answer these questions and more as well as offer a taste.

All demos take place in the Foodwise Classroom (under the tents in front of the Ferry Building) and are free to the public, with recipes and samples for all.
