Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market. Stop by the Foodwise Classroom for a cooking demo featuring the seasonal bounty, as part of a day of celebration at Pop-Ups on the Plaza: Celebrating Latine Makers on Saturday, Octrober 3, 2026.
Founded by husband-and-wife duo Amalia and Saul Bernabé and managed along with their family, Tonantzin was created to bring Oaxacan cuisine to the Bay Area through carefully crafted dishes. Amalia learned traditional recipes while cooking as a child at one of the “20 de Noviembre” markets in Oaxaca. Tonantzin’s menu is drawn from her parents and grandparents, staying true to authentic Oaxacan ingredients. Tontantzin joined the farmers market through their participation in La Cocina‘s food business incubator and Foodwise’s Building Equity program. Find Tonantzin at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market and the Mission Community Market with seasonal tamales, salsas and moles, café de olla, horchata, and much more.
All demos take place in the Foodwise Classroom (green tent in front of the Ferry Building) and are free to the public, with recipes and samples for all.
