Stop by the Foodwise Classroom for a cooking demo featuring the seasonal bounty of the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market.
Georgeanne Brennan is a James Beard and Julia Child award-winning cookbook author. Her association with farmers markets goes back to the 1980s, when her pioneering seed company, Le Marche Seeds, supplied emerging market growers across the country. Her memoir, A Pig in Provence, chronicles her adventures in France, where she still has a home, raising pigs and making goats milk cheese. She lives in Winters, California, with her husband.
Ann M. Evans is a co-founder of the Davis Farmers Market and the Davis Food Co-op, and she is a former mayor of Davis, California. A leading proponent of the Farm-to-School movement in California, she worked extensively with former California School Superintendent Delaine Eastin and with Alice Waters on multiple projects. She writes a weekly column for the Davis Enterprise. This is her third cookbook. She lives with her husband in Davis.
They are the co-authors of Market Memories Cookbook: Celebrating 50 Years.
All demos take place in the Foodwise Classroom (green tent in front of the Ferry Building) and are free to the public, with recipes and samples for all.
