Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Co. Says Farewell to Farmers Markets

Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Co. has decided to end their participation in Bay Area farmers markets, as they turn their focus to online sales and their culinary and educational center, The Fork. For two decades, they have brought delicious, award-winning cheeses from their sustainable, family-run dairy farm in Marin to our San Francisco community.

I have so much appreciation for the Giacomini family and all of the amazing Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese staff,” shares Lulu Meyer, Foodwise’s Director of Operations. “They have been such a big and delicious part of our market history, and we have been overjoyed to watch them evolve and take on more projects over the last 20+ years since they started at the Saturday Ferry Plaza Farmers Market. They started small, but have become a mighty force in the local cheese scene, and it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye this week to them. We wish them all the best as they move into this new chapter of their legacy.

Their last day at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market will be Saturday, December 21. Please join us in saying thanks and picking up some Bay Blue, Toma, and other favorites! The Giacomini family shared this parting message.

Dear Foodwise Community,

After 23 wonderful years, we have made the bittersweet decision to conclude our participation in Bay Area farmers markets. Since 2001, these markets have been a cherished way for us to share our cheese, connect with you, and grow our family business.

We are deeply grateful to Foodwise, our amazing farmers market team, and—most importantly—you, our loyal customers, for your unwavering support through the years. A special thank you goes to Dan, who has led our farmers market program with dedication and care for the past decade. His passion and leadership have been instrumental to its success, and we couldn’t have done it without him.

This decision reflects the natural evolution of our business as we shift focus to The Fork marketplace at the farm and our online direct-to-consumer offerings.
