National Farmers Market Week
July 21, 2016
Join CUESA in celebrating National Farmers Market Week, August 7-13! There are currently more than 8,671 farmers markets listed in the USDA’s National Farmers Market Directory, up from about 5,000 in 2008. California leads the country in farmers markets, with nearly 800 markets throughout the state.
By shopping at your local farmers market, you help keep family farming viable and build community around good food. Support local farms and food producers at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market in San Francisco on Saturdays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, and the Jack London Square Farmers Market in Oakland on Sundays, year round.
During National Farmers Market Week, stop by the CUESA Info Booth at any of our markets to pick up a free “I ❤ Farmers Markets” temporary tattoo or to buy a “I ❤ My Farmers Market” tote bag.
Want to spread the word? Declare your love for farmers markets and share CUESA’s 10 Reasons to Support Farmers Markets with your friends and community.
CUESA farmers markets accept EBT (CalFresh/food stamps). Customers can use their EBT card at the CUESA Info Booth to receive market coins redeemable for food at the market. Customers spending EBT at the market can double their dollars (up to $10 per market day) through the Market Match program, which offers free market coins redeemable only for fruits and vegetables.
