Warren Siu is the resident chef at Far West Fungi. Born in Nicaragua, with ancestral roots in both Italy and China, Chef Siu brings a bold, pan-cultural touch in his cuisine. With kitchen pedigrees all over San Francisco, Chef Siu has been Sous Chef and Executive Sous Chef in establishments such as The Sherman, Green Hills Country Club, Broadway Grill, and 47 Hills Brewery. He is also the owner and founder of Mobile Food Fleet, a family-owned and operated company serving affordable and convenient gourmet meals directly customer’s doorsteps.
Ian Garrone is the CEO of Far West Fungi, a family-run mushroom business based in California. He grew up immersed in the world of fungi, helping his parents at farmers markets from the age of six and running his own market stand as a teenager. After college and time spent learning large-scale agriculture, Ian returned to the family farm full-time, helping expand operations and opening their flagship retail store at San Francisco’s Ferry Building. Under Ian’s leadership, Far West Fungi has grown into a leading producer and retailer of organic mushrooms, offering a wide range of culinary and wellness products. With a focus on sustainability, education, and community, he has helped launch events like the Santa Cruz Mountain Mushroom Festival and continues to evolve the business with new products and experiences, while staying rooted in his family’s legacy and passion for fungi. All demos take place in the Foodwise Classroom (green tent in front of the Ferry Building) and are free to the public, with recipes and samples for all.
