Rose Pistola Says Goodbye
May 9, 2013
We are sad to report that Rose Pistola’s last day in the market will be Saturday, May 18. Rose Pistola offered this statement.
Rose Pistola has been a long-time supporter of the Saturday Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, starting back in in the beginning when the market was located in its original home in the parking lot off the Embarcadero. After taking a few years off from 2000 to 2004, Rose Pistola rejoined the Saturday market in March 2004 in its current location, next to the Ferry Building. In this incarnation, Rose Pistola’s booth was located directly on the Embarcadero, especially friendly for dog-loving market goers. In addition to many of the Rose Pistola favorites, they added fresh baked pastries from their sister restaurant, Rose’s Café.
Says Rose Pistola’s owner Laurie Thomas, “Being a participant in the Saturday farmers market has always been a great experience, but realistically it is also a lot of hard work for our employees. Getting up at 5 am to set up our market booth by 8 am takes a lot of effort that is really outside of our core restaurant business. After a lot of discussion, our management team has voted to take a break from the Saturday market. We intend to focus on what we do best: continuing to offer locally sourced product from our artisan farmers. We will work to incorporate some of our market favorites—like the Soft-Scrambled Eggs with Shaved Asparagus & Crispy Prosciutto, the Egg Sandwich with Applewood Smoked Bacon, Fontina & Mozzarella, and the Brioche French Toast with Maple Syrup, Mixed Berries & Whipped Cream—into our Saturday and Sunday brunch menus in the restaurant.”
Rose Pistola is located at 532 Columbus Avenue, San Francisco, and is open seven days a week (see the website for hours). Contact at 415.399.0499.
