Marin Sun Farms Says Farewell to the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market
October 2, 2014
CUESA is sad to announce that Marin Sun Farms will no longer be selling at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market. Earlier this year, Marin Sun purchased a meat processing facility in Petaluma in order to provide custom processing for their own network of producers as well as other local ranchers. They have decided to focus their efforts on rebuilding this important infrastructure.
Marin Sun joined the market in July 2003, selling eggs and grilled burgers. CUESA has been proud to support their growing operation, which has brought quality, pasture-raised meats to our market shoppers. They will be sorely missed! Marin Sun Farms owner David Evans offered this statement:
Marin Sun Farms has grown to a position to support small farms and ranches in bringing their livestock and meat products to the marketplace by providing slaughter and further processing services. I have decided that MSF is best focused on providing these services to those small farms and ranches. In exiting the farmers markets, space will become available for these entry-level producers to fill and thrive at a direct to customer level. MSF will continue to purchase livestock directly from small farms and ranches to supply our branded sales at our retail butcher shops, e-commerce website, and countless restaurants, institutions, retail stores, and catering companies. The farmers markets have been a critical component in the growth and success of MSF! Thank you for such a wonderful direct to customer experience over the years and thank you to all of the loyal MSF customers who have enjoyed our meats week to week.
Stay in touch with Marin Sun Farms.
