Blue Chair Bids Farewell

January 13, 2016

We’re sad to report that Blue Chair Fruit Co. has decided to scale back their market presence. We’ll miss them in our market, but you can still find their delicious jams inside the Ferry Building. Rachel Saunders offered these words of thanks and farewell.

After a wonderful year at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, Blue Chair Fruit has decided to scale back our market presence. We hope to return for the holidays later in 2016!

This has been a very difficult decision because of my love of and sentimental attachment to the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market. When I first moved to San Francisco in 1999, I became a devoted regular of the market when it was in its old location further along the Embarcadero. I discovered many fruits and ingredients at the market and it has always been my favorite market in the country. Having the opportunity to sell at the market was both the fulfillment of a lifelong dream and a great honor!

Despite my love of the market, however, I have decided to scale back our market presence. In addition to the Grand Lake and Temescal Farmers Markets in the East Bay, we work with two distributors and maintain our online store, and I am also pursuing various other projects. We are a tiny company and it was time to simplify! I would like to extend my most heartfelt thanks to all of our fantastic clients, fans, and students. We love you all!

Please visit Cowgirl Creamery in the Ferry Building or visit bluechairfruit.com to explore our wide selection of jams and marmalades. Information on my two cookbooks and my online and in-person classes can also be found on our website. We look forward to hopefully seeing you very soon!
