What Your Monthly Gift Supports

Your tax-deductible donation directly supports Foodwise’s work to champion an equitable and sustainable Bay Area food community through farmers markets and education programs.

  • Support climate-wise California farmers and food makers. Foodwise farmers markets provide vital income for 200+ small family farms and food businesses facing economic and climate uncertainty, and provide opportunities for early-stage BIPOC entrepreneurs in our Building Equity program.
  • Help make fresh, local food affordable for all Bay Area families. As inflation and climate change threaten farms and food security, our Market Match program helps low-income families double their CalFresh EBT benefits at the farmers market, while putting dollars directly into the pockets of local farmers.
  • Provide critical free food and environmental education for kids. Through farmers market field trips, cooking classes, school gardens, and job training, we increase young people’s desire to eat fresh fruits and vegetables, participate in their food system, and be empowered as future food leaders.

Contribute to a regenerative, equitable, and nourishing food future for all by becoming a Foodwise Sustainer today. Thank you!

Your generous donation could be doubled if your employer offers a matching gift program (check here). Meet Some of Our Foodwise Sustainers

“I’ve been a regular at Ferry Plaza Farmers Market for more than 20 years. For me, being able to see the locally grown foods in season keeps me connected to the land where I live. We are so lucky to be able to get to know the farmers who grow our food and to know the care and quality of the products they sell to us. Last year my finances permitted me to become a sustaining donor (meaning that I give to Foodwise every month). I’m not a major donor, but I know that by giving this way, this not-for-profit organization can count on the money I give when budgeting. It’s also a lot easier on my wallet if I give throughout the year rather than all at one time. Why don’t you join me in supporting our local market by becoming a sustaining donor, too?”

“I donate monthly because…once you’re part of the community, you’re always part of the community. It’s important to take care of each other, sustain each other. There’s nothing better than that. Growing up here in San Francisco as a kid, I don’t recall ever getting taught in school about what healthy foods or where I can go to get my food from. Food just came to the table. And I think it’s super important to just build a habit, educate kids and people around the community to know how to take care of themselves.”

“I learned about the other great programs that Foodwise is doing like Foodwise Kids. I volunteered with them once, and it really showed me the beauty of what the program means to the kids that are in it and also the families that are involved. Being able to offer even just that small level of stability to Foodwise and to the kids that they’re supporting and educating, it’s a small contribution that we could do, so we’re really happy to be Sustainers.”

“Being in the restaurant industry, I’ve been lucky to work with some amazing people who share a love for delicious food—not just the composed dishes, but the rich history of how regional cuisine developed, the individual ingredients used to tell that story, and the local producers who work tirelessly to bring those components to market. For me, a good meal is made that much better by featuring an ingredient at the height of its season and with an appreciation for the complex web of support necessary to present that dish at your table. There is a lot that happens between putting a seedling into the ground and ordering an entree at a restaurant. I support Foodwise because they help to tell this important story and, through their programming, nourish our community.”

“I have been going to the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market from the beginning, rain or shine. We are so lucky to have access to such outstanding quality food. It is also a privilege to support the farmers who are working so hard and take such pride in giving us the best of everything.”
