When Ramavtar and Preeti Singh first began farming 25 years ago, no one believed it was possible to grow avocados in Northern California. The couple first came to understand the importance of nutrition through their shared experience in the medical field, which drove their passion to grow healthy food. Despite being discouraged by other farmers, Ramavtar was determined to try growing avocadoes on the couple’s residential farm in Fremont. Decades later, their farm is now home to thousands of avocado trees.

At the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, shoppers can find organic Hass and Bacon avocados as well as passionfruit from the Singh family’s farm.
