Stop by the Foodwise Classroom for a cooking demo featuring the seasonal bounty of the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, as part of Pop-Ups on the Plaza: Fall Kickoff on September 23, 2023.

Chef, restaurateur, and cookbook author Pierre Thiam was raised in Dakar, Senegal. He is the executive chef of the award-winning restaurant Nok by Alara in Lagos, Nigeria and the Signature Chef of the five-star Pullman Hotel in Dakar, Senegal as well as the executive chef and co-owner of Teranga, in New York City. He lives in El Cerrito, California with his wife Lisa, their daughter Na’ia, and dog Malcolm. He is the co-author of the new cookbook Simply West African, with Lisa Katayama (Clarkson Potter, September 19, 2023).

All demos take place in the Foodwise Classroom (under the tents in front of the Ferry Building) and are free to the public, with recipes and samples for all. The demo will be followed by a book signing at Book Passage inside the Ferry Building at 1:00 pm.
