Josh Copeland, Camino Alto

Stop by the Foodwise Classroom for a cooking demo featuring the seasonal bounty. This month, we’re showcasing Berries as part of our Seasonal Spotlight program.
After 20+ years in corporate banking, Josh Copeland ditched the tie and suited up in an apron, ready to open his first restaurant in 2021. He realized that he would rather try and possibly fail at his dream than continue down a path where he felt little connection. Located in San Francisco’s Cow Hollow neighborhood, Camino Alto, named by Outside Magazine, a top 15 San Francisco restaurant, serving California cuisine centered around a wood fired oven. As he worked on gaining a greater understanding of his dad’s dementia, Josh embarked on a journey of dietary exploration, which inspired Camino Alto’s menu full of nutritious, sustainable ingredients sourced seasonally from local markets. In an industry where compromises are common, Camino Alto’s refusal to sacrifice quality for cost underscores the significance of upholding culinary integrity.
All demos take place in the Foodwise Classroom (under the tents in front of the Ferry Building) and are free to the public, with recipes and samples for all.
