Dominic Franks, Upside Down Cooking
Saturday, June 14, 2025, 11:00 am - 11:45 am

Stop by the Foodwise Classroom for a cooking demo featuring the seasonal bounty of the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market. This month, we’re showcasing Berries as part of our Seasonal Spotlight program.
Dominic Franks, known as @dominthekitchen to his 725k+ Instagram followers, sparked a viral sensation in May 2023 with his first upside down bake: a caramelized onion tart. Dom now presents his unique cooking style in his debut cookbook, Upside Down Cooking: LAYER, BAKE, FLIP – A Brand New Way to Cook in One Tray. Originally from London, Dominic Franks now lives in Lincolnshire where he is a food writer for Lincolnshire Life Magazine, is regularly featured on BBC Radio Lincolnshire as their go-to food expert, and has been feeding the internet with his blog Dom In The Kitchen since 2010. Dominic’s love for food started young, drawing inspiration from Delia Smith, his mum (who will tell you that she taught him everything he knows), his Jewish heritage, and the cultural melting pot of his London upbringing.
All demos take place in the Foodwise Classroom (under the tents in front of the Ferry Building) and are free to the public, with recipes and samples for all.
The demo will be followed by a book signing with book sales courtesy of Book Passage.
