About

Bolita Masa is a landrace maíz molino and masa business based in Berkeley, CA. Founded in 2020 by Emmanuel Galvan, Bolita aims to promote the consumption and use of heirloom maíz in the Bay Area by offering freshly nixtamalized and milled landrace masa, tortillas and masa dishes. You can find Bolita at various farmers markets and shops throughout San Francisco, Oakland, and Berkeley.

Sourcing

Corn is sourced through importers that prioritize sustainable farming practices and equitable pricing for maíz farmers in Mexico. Emmanuel exclusively sources maíz through Tamoa, based out of Mexico City, which works directly with each of the farmers and buys surplus corn. At the farmers market, Emmanuel purchases produce from local farms, including Brokaw, Oya Organics, Dirty Girl, Rojas and Knoll Farms.
