Cocktail: A Gala Affair

This recipe was demonstrated on May 14, 2008 at a cocktail demonstration and tasting event during San Francisco Cocktail Week.
Makes one cocktail
1.5 ounce Skyy Vodka
1 ounce Apple Juice
1 ounce Simple Syrup
0.75 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
0.5 ounce eggwhites
0.5 ounce Laird’s AppleJack (or Calvados)
3 slices of Gala Apple
5-7 fresh basil leaves
- In a mixing glass, muddle the three apple slices and the basil leaves. Combine the rest of the ingredients on top of the muddled mixture.
- Add ice and shake vigorously so as to achieve the desired affect from the egg whites. Double strain the mixture into a cocktail glass and garnish with a thin apple wedge on the rim of the glass and a basil blossom floating on the head of the cocktail.
