Support CUESA's Holiday Pie Bake for The Veterans Academy
Saturday, December 10, 2016, 8:00 am - 2:00 pm

This holiday season, CUESA volunteers are baking 100 apple pies to donate to senior and disabled veterans at The Veterans Academy, in partnership with Food Runners.
Please contribute to our ingredient drive by purchasing apples, lemons, and/or flour from vendors at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market on Saturdays, December 10 and 17. Drop off ingredients at the CUESA Info Booth in front of the Ferry Building during market hours (8 am to 2 pm). Monetary donations are also welcome.
Thank you to Frog Hollow Farm, Della Fattoria, Downtown Bakery & Creamery, and Batter Bakery for generously donating pie dough, and to Nana Joes, Three Babes Bakeshop, and Devoto Gardens & Orchards for providing special pricing for ingredients.
The Veterans Academy is a housing site for formerly homeless veterans with disabilities. run by Swords to Plowshares and located on a former Army post in San Francisco’s Presidio National Park. Food Runners’ mission is to help alleviate hunger in San Francisco, to help prevent waste, and to help create community. Food Runners picks up excess perishable and prepared food from businesses such as restaurants, caterers, bakeries, hospitals, corporate cafeterias, and farmers markets and delivers it directly to neighborhood food programs.
Join us again on Saturday, December 24, in the CUESA Classroom from 10 am to 12 pm to decorate the pie boxes with holiday greetings before we fill them with pies and send them off to be enjoyed by residents of The Veterans Academy.
