Summer Preserves Contest at CUESA's Jack London Square Farmers Market

Pick your favorite summer fruit and get ready to jam for CUESA’s Summer Preserves Contest! Chutneys, marmalades, and of course jams are all welcome!If you are an amateur canner, you’re invited to submit your best preserves at CUESA’s Summer Jam at Jack London Square Farmers Market in Oakland on Sunday, July 15.
Summer is upon us, which means locally grown berries, cherries, and stone fruit abound at our farmers markets, ripe for sticky and sweet or tart preserves. To showcase the best of the season from our local farms, your preserves must feature one or more California-grown summer fruits or vegetables from our local farmers as the primary ingredient. Any other fruits or vegetables should be seasonal.

Judging
Preserves will be judged by our panel of experts, chefs, and local food writers on appearance, texture, taste, and use of local, seasonal ingredients. Creativity and originality will also be considered. Our esteemed panel of experts includes:

To Enter
Bring 3 half pint (8 ounce) jars, (sealed, with rings) of your preserves to the event booth at CUESA’s Summer Jam at Jack London Square Farmers Market in Oakland on Sunday, July 15, 2018. There, you will drop off your preserves and your completed submission form and $5 (cash) entry fee. Submissions MUST be received between 10:00 am and 11:00 am. No late entries will be accepted.

CUESA’s Jack London Square Farmers Market takes place rain or shine on Sundays, 10 am to 3 pm, on Water Street at the base of Broadway in Oakland.
