Ryan Shelton, Merchant Roots

Saturday, August 25, 2018, 10:30 am - 11:15 am

Stop by the CUESA Classroom for a cooking demo featuring the seasonal bounty of the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market.

Ryan Shelton, the executive chef & owner of newly opened Merchant Roots on Fillmore Street, is a Bay Area native. Formerly of Baumé in Palo Alto and Verbena in Russian Hill, Shelton is thrilled to have his own restaurant & shop focusing on handmade pasta and charcuterie. When Chef Shelton’s grandparents emigrated as children from Italy after World War I, the family lost much of its connection to Italian food traditions and culture. Merchant Roots represents his rededication to his heritage and the craft of pasta making.

All demos take place in the CUESA Classroom (under the white tents in front of the Ferry Building) and are free to the public, with recipes and samples for all.
