Pi Day is quickly approaching but don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.  Join Chronicle writer Janelle Bitker for a video chat and demo with Lenore Estrada of Three Babes Bakeshop in partnership with CUESA.  Lenore will give you great baking tips as she shows you how to make a pie using local, seasonal ingredients. Click here to reserve your spot!

Growing up in the Central Valley, Lenore and fellow Three Babes co-founder Anna Derivi-Castellanos met in the third grade and, as teenagers, they baked pies to give away to their friends. Years later, they decided to start a pie-making business together with the goal of supporting local farms. They launched in 2011 with a pie delivery service and a weekly pop-up out at a local café, and later joined the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market in 2013. Their pie offerings change seasonally, and all pies are made by hand, a labor-intensive process. Anna stepped away from the business in 2018.

Last year, Lenore also founded nonprofit SF New Deal, which has helped keep the city’s independent restaurants alive while also feeding the vulnerable populations.

You can find Three Babes at CUESA’s Ferry Plaza Farmers Market in San Francisco on Saturdays or order their pies online at threebabesbakeshop.com.

Janelle Bitker explores the Bay Area’s culture through food. From restaurants to trends to the people who make it all happen, Janelle’s coverage stays on top of the vast Bay Area culinary scene.

Registration is free and open to all, but you must RSVP. A link will be sent out after reserving a spot. Reserve your spot today!
