Gloria Polo, Project Pride

Sunday, October 30, 2016, 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm

Stop by CUESA’s Jack London Square Farmers Market in Oakland for a cooking demo featuring the seasonal bounty of the farmers market.

Gloria Polo, chef and food service manager for the East Bay Community Recovery Project’s Project Pride, will demonstrate a recipe for carrot top pesto, and offer tips for making the most of the harvest and reducing food waste in the kitchen.

EBCRP has provided substance abuse, mental health, and other health related services since 1989. With locations in Oakland and Hayward, California, EBCRP offers a full range of services from residential treatment for women and children to intensive counseling and vocational training. Project Pride is a facility for women in recovery and their young children, which provides housing, treatment programs, and support services. As the Food Service Manager, Gloria Polo creates the menus, obtain the ingredients, and teach the residents how to cook and eat better.

This demo is part of CUESA’s Jack London Square Farmers Market Harvest Festival. See the full lineup of activities »
