Fall Pie Contest at CUESA's Jack London Square Farmers Market

Time to pull out that rolling pin and your best fall pie recipe! If you are an amateur baker, you’re invited to submit your best pie at CUESA’s Jack London Square Farmers Market Harvest Festival in Oakland on Sunday, October 30.
Autumn is upon us, which means locally grown apples, pears, and nuts abound at our farmers markets, ripe for luscious pie filling baked into a tender, flaky crust. To showcase the best of the season from our local farms, your pie must feature one or more California-grown fall fruits or vegetables from our local farmers as the primary ingredient. Any other fruits, nuts, or vegetables should be seasonal.

Prizes
The top three winners will receive a selection of foodie prizes, including bakery and restaurant gift certificates, baking supplies, and more! The winners’ recipes will also be announced in the CUESA e-letter. Prizes have been generously donated by Fournée Bakery, Haven, PieTisserie, Sweet Bar Bakery, Belcampo Meat Co., Blue Bottle Coffee, Oaktown Spice Shop, and Bed, Bath & Beyond.
Judging
Pies will be judged by our panel of pie experts, pastry chefs, and local food writers on appearance, texture, taste, and use of local, seasonal ingredients. Creativity and originality will also be considered. Our esteemed panel of pie experts includes:

Print and complete the entry form and bring it with your pie to CUESA’s Jack London Square Farmers Market Harvest Festival in Oakland on Sunday, October 30, 2016. Submissions must be received between 10:00 and 11:00 am. Winners will be announced at 12:45 pm. Happy baking, and may the best pie win!
CUESA’s Jack London Square Farmers Market takes place rain or shine on Sundays, 9 am to 2 pm, on Water Street at the base of Broadway in Oakland.
