Alison Mountford, Ends + Stems

Saturday, March 31, 2018, 10:30 am - 11:15 am

Stop by the CUESA Classroom for a cooking demo featuring the seasonal bounty of the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market.

Chef Alison Mountford has been cooking for Bay Area businesses and families since 2005. Beginning as a personal chef, she soon realized that with a commercial kitchen and lower per meal prices, she could deliver healthy, convenient dinners to more families weekly. Alison founded Square Meals, thus opening one of the area’s early (pre-tech) meal delivery services. From 2011-2015 Square Meals had a brick and mortar cafe in Russian Hill and served thousands of people weekly. After selling the business in 2015, Alison worked as a procurement manager for a larger food tech delivery service, then moved on to tackle the widespread problem of household food waste. She’s currently working on building Ends+Stems, a meal planning platform that works to educate and encourage busy homes to shop well and reduce waste. In paying attention to what we buy, how we cook and what we value, we can make huge strides in stopping climate change and reforming our food systems to be healthier. Alison went to NYU and the California Culinary Academy.

All demos take place in the CUESA Classroom (under the white tents in front of the Ferry Building) and are free to the public, with recipes and samples for all.
