Market Memories: The Bruins
May 17, 2013
Paul, Eva, and Bart Bruins of Bruins Farms give thanks for the farmers market community.
Twenty years ago, a friend of ours came to ask us about attending a new market that was just about to open in San Francisco. We couldn’t do it at that time, since we were short of vehicles and people, however our tomatoes were being sold there through another farm on a second certificate.
The next year, we decided to invest in a truck and took the tomatoes to the market ourselves. It was, and has been a worthy venture. The customers received us with great enthusiasm, as they still do today. To this date, we still have many of our old customers who have followed us through the market locations, and we have acquired new ones.
We are thankful to all our customers who have supported us over the years. We are also thankful to CUESA’s sustainable philosophy. A big thanks to Dave and our AWESOME market managers, volunteers, and parking helpers…they rock ! And to all the staff who collectively make this market the success that we all profit from. Also, a big thanks to market founder, Sibella Kraus.
